A flag quiz that picks the questions for you

A flag quiz tests how well you know the flags of the world, from the Southern Cross flags of Oceania to the tricolours of Europe. The wheel picks the country, so nobody gets to choose the easy ones: name the country from its flag, find the flag from the name, or mix both. Take a country off the wheel once you know its flag.

How to play the flag quiz

  1. Choose the question: name the flag, find the flag, or both.
  2. Pick how many answers to choose from: 2, 4 or 8.
  3. Keep every country on the wheel or choose continents.
  4. Spin, answer and keep score. Add your class to play turns, knockout or points.

Ways to use the flag quiz

  • A geography warm-up at the start of a lesson.
  • A flag round for trivia night at the pub or the club.
  • Learning the flags of Asia before a holiday.
  • Getting ready for the Olympics or the World Cup.
  • A quick daily game to learn all 195 flags.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many flags are in the flag quiz?

The SpinnerWheel flag quiz covers 195 flags: the 193 member states of the United Nations plus the two observer states, the Holy See and Palestine.

Which flags are the hardest to tell apart?

Chad and Romania share almost the same blue, yellow and red stripes, Indonesia and Monaco are both red over white, and the Netherlands and Luxembourg differ only in their shade of blue. The SpinnerWheel flag quiz never offers these pairs as answers for each other.

How can I learn the flags of the world?

Learn one continent at a time, start with two answer choices and move up to eight, and take each country off the wheel once you know its flag, so the quiz keeps asking about the ones you still miss.

What is the difference between naming the flag and finding the flag?

Naming the flag shows a flag and asks which country it belongs to. Finding the flag shows a country’s name and asks you to pick its flag. The mixed mode switches between the two at random.

Can a whole class play the flag quiz together?

Save the class list once and the wheel picks who answers each flag. Everyone has a go, a wrong answer can knock a player out, or the class plays for points, and a report shows which flags to revise. It is free, and the names stay on the device.
